The look on her face told me true;
she felt ….ONLY I was wrong ….of the TWO ….
of us.
In her mind it was MY fault ONLY ….
that SHE felt unloved AND lonely.

Perhaps if I knew what to expect ….
when I said "I do", ….away I'd EJECT ….
myself from her!
But I didn't know she'd been OFTEN depressed ….
BEFORE she met me [as she later confessed].

AND I didn't know she'd insist on a BABY! !
I'd told her I'd NO interest in kids. No "MAYBE".
And on top of that she wanted a HOUSE (!) ,
saying: "If we don't get one, you are a LOUSE! "

I truly WAS saddened....by the look on HER face,
BUT I had no reason to feel ANY disgrace.
I'd TRIED my best to please her but I'd failed.
Now STUCK, I felt that I'd been....unjustly JAILED! !

This is a jailed (or caged) bird's song. Quite humorous. Well-rhymed. Keep this away from her eyes. Since you probe into the grammar of others, may I ask you - isn't there something odd with your use of simple past and past past in the last two lines (tried, had failed; stuck, had been....jailed) . Since I don't have a list of poems, here is a 10.

Dark. Very, very dark. This reminds me of what a friend from Germany once described as das Gefängnis der Liebe. Extremely well written, though. This is an excellent poem.
