The Longer Poems Are Not Mine Poem by Shalom Freedman

The Longer Poems Are Not Mine

The longer poems are not mine
I cannot encompass them
I have a small mind
And a small memory
And there is only so much time and space
In me for each thing

Others can write and read in the long distances
I must stay in the shorter spaces and briefer times
Here I can live
As I live
Read as I read
Write as I write
Dream as I dream
Be as I am
However small.
