The Lighted Candle Poem by Reyvrex Questor Reyes

The Lighted Candle

As darkness tempts a soul to curse the night,
A candle gave some light so it may see,
Its heart has made a prayer to recite,
So it may trod the shadows fearlessly

Into the light that it aspired to find,
And really did. So let the trumpets blow,
To relegate the troubles far behind,
Yet have the blessings and the grace to know;

But life goes on, a running battle fought,
As good and evil in a war have played,
The victories are with more pitfalls fraught,
Until the ultimate showdown is made;

····And may till then the candle keeps its flame,
····To turn away the darkness just the same.
