The Light Poem by Aaron Wells

The Light

To some the light is worthless.
To some it's unimportant.
To some it means nothing.

But to me, the light is everything.
It keeps my heart warm.
It keeps my heart strong.
It keeps me wanting to move on.

Sometimes I put out the light...
With the stifling nature of my haughtiness.
I watch you squirm in the cold.
I watch you thinking about giving up on the light.

The best thing?
The light is still there..
Just dimmer, quieter, softer.
It's hard to see, feel..
But it's still there.

The light isn't extinguishable.
It is eternal.
You lit it, with the fire of your love.
It will burn.
It will live.
It is.

The light is almost out.
The warmth has drifted into a cool autumn.
My heart is cold,
but you reach out and protect it.

You save the light.
You save me.
You love.
You.

The light illuminates my heart.
The light shines onto memories.
The light causes you to be in everything.
Every thought, word, and action.

Please. Save the light.
