The Lie Poem by louis rams

The Lie

Rating: 5.0

sitting and looking out at the cold night rain.
listening to it 'hit against my window pane'.
thinking about days gone by.
and how people choose to live a lie.
they claim to things they've never done
as if they were the only ones.
they fill their heads with all these lies.
what are they trying to hide?

all these thoughts go thru my mind
as i sit and wonder why.
why is it that some choose to live a lie
and not get up to even try.
at least try to achieve all that you dream
put it into your plans-put it into your scheme.
even if you don't achieve your goal.
you will have a clear mind and soul.
for the only one that you're lying to
look in the mirror-'it is you'.
even if you think it's not true.
no one should know you better than you
so here is all you've got to do
be true to yourself and you will see everything comes naturally
