The Legacy Of A Martyr Poem by saadat tahir

The Legacy Of A Martyr

He who dies a death so sweet
hath a death of utmost pride
In heaven lies his enviable seat
lost from site yet natures guide

Does none see the moral of the deed?
Tis certainly not o sigh an heave
tis a sign to wake, an sow a seed
To do something err you leave

Though he’s passed yet he lives
tranced breath his body is dead
Lo! is it not the soul that gives
Charm to the brook the flowery bed

Oh father, oh brother, oh love so sweet
Though you’ve vanished far from sight
We pledge to thee till lasts our beat
To trample evil under our feet
