The Leaves Poem by john tiong chunghoo

The Leaves

Rating: 5.0

the leaves i take them
as your shapely hands
softly and gently bidding me
to be close at your side

the dusk lake's dazzling
water i take them as your
smile aimed at opening
my heart to you, a lovely
appetiser to our meet

the bird chirps i take them
as a lovelorn spring song
carried on the wings
of hopes and dreams
to my ears
a love flame that still
binds us to each other

the fallen leaves that
chaotically turn, i take
them as the battled
attempt to keep
our relationships
alive despite the odds
the shrivelling dryness
of throat as we open
our hearts to talk
to each other
