The Last Journey Poem by Göran Gustafsson

The Last Journey

Rating: 5.0

The journey's been long, not an easy game
You win and you lose, but there's no one to blame
The sailor turns his face to the dark and empty skies
Waiting for the moon and the stars to rise

The grief and joy they are not what they seem
His life has become like a floating dream
Every thought in his mind is aimed at the goal
When the present slowly fades from his soul

The shadows are fallin', he's been sailing all day
And the winds of the night they are here to stay
The sailor he knows that the harbor is near
When the light shines bright from the pier

From afar he can hear the church bells ring
And waiting friends, songs of joy will bring
At last he arrives on that beautiful shore
Known by his name when he knocks at the door

I will tell his companion and children most dear
To weep not for him now he's gone
The same hand that led him through storms most severe
Has kindly assisted him home.

Solace indeed this brought. As my brother accepted Jesus (I am a believer) before he passed. Thank you for sharing I am sure he was met by his friends and father who also recently passed. Appreciate you directing me to this poem. This piece shows that it was written by someone who understand the promise of hope.
