The Last December Poem by Joseph Eli Atisu

The Last December

It was the last December
Long, but I still remember
We were yoked together
Like glove to hand, forever
Today, I missed you, more than ever
As I remember that last December
I waited that December
Watched the ring on the sofa
To put it on your finger
Yes, my love, they still linger
The memories of last December
Sometimes I sit and wonder
If you're just a gold digger
But if I were a gambler
I'll bet my last penny
That you're an angel, sweet and tender
But here I am, broken and sober
As I remeber last December
I waited through the thunder
Saw the clouds getting darker
Then the rain became louder
And I couldn't wait any longer
I braved the rain, braved the thunder
Came to your house and saw a letter
Oh my love, you can't imagine
What you did to me that December
All those words I can't remember
But this line still linger
That you've found another lover
Your so called life patner
It was a cold lonely weather
But my body was hot with fever
My heartbeat was heavier than the thunder
It'll be the last December
That you and I will be together
Goodbye my dear, goodbye my lover
I'll remember you, today and forever
I'll remember you every December
