The Lady Across The Lake Poem by Scott Gervaise

The Lady Across The Lake

The lady across the lake calls me,
she offers me tranquility and peace,
she want's me to swim over she says,
she can take all the pain away.

If only, if only, I'd come,
If only, if only, I'd jump.

The woman across the water calms me,
she comforts me with promises she'll keep,
If only I would take one step,
she'll give me all the love I need.

If only, if only, I'd come,
if only, if only, I'd jump.

The lady across the lake haunts me,
her eyes are diamonds, silver and gold,
and even though she knows I can't swim,
she's telling me to jump right in.

If only, if only, I'd come,
if only, if only, I'd jump.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem was written after I awoke from a dream. A few minutes after writing the poem I added a melody and 3 chords on the guitar and turned it into a very short song. The words describe the dream in as much detail as I could remember. It haunted me, it was a very intense dream. It is exactly what I saw and felt during the dream.
