The Ladder Of Fame Poem by Hannington Mumo

The Ladder Of Fame

I must clamber the ladder of fame
No matter how hard this is to scale,
For twenty years I’ve lived as a non-entity;
Two decades have elapsed without a name,
And since the world is so small without me
I’ll stamp my boot upon its face.

Despite how slippery my feet prove to be
I must scale the precarious wall of renown;
This climb begins this minute my friend,
Almighty alone knows when the same shall end;
Whether to great heights I’ll soar
And the clouds of eminence I’ll devour
Or the claws of death shall sooner engulf,
It’s a secret I pray he keeps from me!
