The Kiss Poem by D A Phinney

The Kiss

Rating: 1.5

From the other side of the world
You send your kiss

I can hear your lips opening
Arching over the continents
To reach around the globe
They are coming for me
I hear them in the gales
Of your warm summer breath

I feel them in the earthquakes
As they move across the land
Shimmering up through my body
I feel their salival flood
As they brim the oceans

At last I think I see them
Yes, they rise like hope
From opposite horizons

They are engulfing the world
My world
Closing off the sky
Closing in on me
Rushing together
Engulfing me
They glam shut
Sealing me up

I become a taste
That tastes
Sucking my senses
Dissolving
Seeping into you
Absorbing me
I am one with the warm sweetness

I cannot think, my sky falls
I am shaken, my earth quakes
I drown, my oceans flood
I burst in a great dissemination
With joy

Then, in slow lingering motion
Your lips that held me
Bound me...
Unbind
Rebound apart
Recede away
Setting the horizons free
And me

And
I wonder
What it would be like
To embrace
