The Jack Fruit Poem by Akhtar Jawad

The Jack Fruit

Rating: 5.0

They call you the king of fruits
but I call you the queen of fruits.
because when I open you
I see a sexy sweet beauty
and that's too uncountable.
I went on eating you again and again
but I always remained hungry of you.
You appear a perfect female to me,
A lovely mother,
keeps her sweetest child
underground,
hidden from the extremes of nature
and hunger of a beast
known as man.
But man!
the clever and cruel beast
digs the earth
for the fruit that is enriched
and more suitable to grow new Jack trees.
You should not blame man,
life depends on death of another life
everyone who breaths in and breaths out
was and still a hunter!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
(Jack Fruit (With thanks to servingjoy.com)
In terms of proportions, the jack fruit can certainly be considered as the king of fruits. The jack fruit is recognized as the largest tree fruit, growing as big as 3 feet long and 18 inches wide; and weighing as much as 50 pounds. Because of its size, jack fruit usually grow from the trunk and larger branches rather than the outer stems of the tree like most fruits do. On rare instances, the roots of the jack fruit tree have been known to bear underground fruits, which are said to be very sweet and flavorful. Aside from these unique growing characteristics, there is more to know about the jack fruit that makes it doubly remarkable.)

The jack fruit in your plate looks so yummy! Indeed it is a magical fruit, the fortune of those living in tropical climes. As you say, the mother jack fruit protects her children(seeds) wrapped in comfortable layers! An interesting read!

A very nice poem about a very nice fruit. I got to know jackfruit in Brazil. I didn't see any that were three feet long and fifty pounds, but maybe a few that were three-fourths that size. While it is not my favorite fruit by any means, the flavor is certainly not unpleasant. I did not know that they could sometimes grow underground fruit. Thanks for the information.
