The Hole Poem by Brenda Harper

The Hole

Rating: 3.5

Too much too little too late
Alone went the mouse down past the gate
Running as fast as he could
Trying to find a place that was good
A shelter for him to stay dry
Food, to feed him body and soul
This would help him to survive
Not needing anyone else
Just trying to find the peace within himself
He went to the hole and and crawled way down deep inside
Protected from the wind, the rain, cold and heat
He lay within the hole that was ever so deep
Now nothing would hurt as long
As he stayed there
Scared to come back up he disappeared in thin air
Time flew by, and he decided he would try
But the sun had burned him
The rain was so cold
And he became sick and very, very old
Troubled by what he did see
He went back to the hole
Where he was at ease
But then he saw that loneliness had come to call
He died within the hole of a broken heart and all.

But then he saw that loneliness had come to call He died within the hole of a broken heart and all. A well described conclusion.
