The Heart Poem by R.K. Cowles

The Heart

No human has created
Any invention as greater or beautiful
As what nature creates
The greatest machine known to mankind
Is the heart

It is small
But an enormous thing
Pumps your vital fluids 24/7/365
Throughout the body's veins
Doesn't matter the extent of stress
Nor the unnatural intake
You inject into yourself

It will fight
As hard as any soldier
Has done in any battle
This is the greatest battle won
By anything or anyone
It is courageous efforts
To keep you alive
Is unparelled by no one

So nurture this warrior
Grease it up
With plenty of proper foods
Exercise and get plenty of fresh air
Make it last awhile longer than most

This hero of yours deserve every bit
Of your devotion to it
Don't forget it is there
And the importance of its use
You need it to breath life
Into your veins
Every moment of your life

This hero that will be with you
From day one until the end
No other hero
can be this dependable
if it departed from your companionship
You would be dead
So be loyal to your heart
