The Heart Poem by Marama Kelly

The Heart

Rating: 5.0

A heart that's bound in agony
Cannot see the light of day

A heart that's filled with misery
Cannot hear, see or say

A heart that's filled with poverty
Cannot dream prosperity

A heart that's filled with unbelief
Will walk through life in grief

A heart that's filled with fear and doubt
Will walk through life round about

A heart that's filled with loathing hate
Will walk through life despising the great

A heart that's filled with unbound dread
Will lose their life and fall down dead

So make life joy and let go of pain
Focus on love and justice you'll gain
Remove all things that bring you down
Don't be a fool and act like a clown
Give up your lusts and share with others
Care for the fallen don't forsake your brothers
Share of the wonders given to you
Wipe away tears that make others blue
Open your heart to smile every day
Don't look for payment, just walk away
Help those who need it regardless of lack
Give them the shirt from right off your back
Turn a blind eye to the sins you do see
Look to the heart like God.and believe.
