The Happening Poem by Samanyan Lakshminarayanan

The Happening

Rating: 4.6

Not knowing whom it is waiting for-
it is waiting-and
if not detected-
not knowing whom it is destroying even-
it will destroy.
Thus stands planted a 'blind' bomb.

A young mom to pacify her little son
brings him to the shopping centre to-
buy him an ice cream.
The mom could have taken the son along-
to the icecream parlour- which she din't
'it is very warm baby, mummy will be back in a while'
she said and left him in the car with the airconditioner on-
she showed him the hand brake and warned him not to meddle with it.
The litlle boy was eagerly waiting for his mom-
he could see her from the car-
she was coming out with two cones in her hand-
the eager son could see her mom coming towards him.
Then suddenly it happened
the little one could see his mom in the air-
she was tossed in the air-
then suddenly the little one could'nt see his mom amidst the smokey air.
The little confused son dint know what went wrong
even if he would say now 'sorry mom i wouldnt trouble you anymore or
sorry mom i wont be a brat any more'
the mom is'nt going to come back to him.
What would go on in the litlle one's mind?
what would he think of the world?
Till now his mother was his world.
What would he think of life and the people around?
The sudden diappointment and helplessness with anger-
in which way will it take him?
A responsible mom had gone for what?
to warn a irresponsible government?
In which way will all this take him?
What would he become in future?
A shattered terrorist or a responsible cop?

Are we not entitled to lead a normal life?
where could we stray about- without knowing
where from we will be attacked?
what for we are attacked?
whose is this person attacking us?
WHAT IS THIS HAPPENING?

Raising the awareness level and speaking out on terror. A child ravaged by war and terror is bound to fear and hate. We were given free will and suffer the consequences of people who have no feeling for Humanity. It seems that we are powerless to stop the people who are grasping in their greed for land, money, natural resources or who just feel the need to dominate. The Natural Balance is gone, we must find a way to regain it. I pray alot.....very good writing Linda

This is a moving account of the effect of terrorism on innocent people, women and children, men going about their daily business, life being normal, and all of that shattered in an instant by a cowardly terrorist's bomb, samanyan. It is overall a well written poem, and a very expressive one as well. Sadly, terrorism is here to stay, since there will always be evil minds and cowardly people, jealous of the freedoms of others. Like the vermin they are, they live in the shadows, in their holes in the ground, and lack any semblance of the honor of a warrior. They pretend to be religious fanatics, yet violate the most sacred tenents of their own religions. Because one dislikes another culture it does not give them the right to try to destroy it. Your fine poem does not mention all this directly, but it is there, inbetween the lines, and like the disaster in Mumbai, no reader will forget your words or the havoc these cowardly terrorists caused that fine day. Carl.

This runs like another terrorist's attack story.
