The Hanging Tree Poem by Kyle Shield Laster

The Hanging Tree

Rating: 3.0

I fear no one could love me
And what reason can I give-
As an answer to my aching;
For the lonely life I live?

I've never earned a Flatterer;
Nor ever have I laughed-
At an 'ugly' heart depleting
Due to someone else's wrath.

And I'll never love a victim;
For I wouldn't cherish Me.
But I'll seduce the moss that grows-
About my hanging tree.
