The Greatest Gift



i knew you once long ago
and everything about you was poetry
the way you flowed like a mystery
that begged no solution
the answer to a prayer
as yet unbirthed and unspoken
and to my heart's delight
when you left
you left me healed and whole
giving the greatest gift that can be given
saving me when i had no need of saving.
