The Great Stork Hunt Poem by Ben Huff

The Great Stork Hunt

Backwash gamblers sittin on a porch
Playin 5 card stud of some sort
When along came a stork
That went and flipped the board
Now when the gamblers cleaned up
The big ol mess of the storks
They noticed the money was missin
They searched high and low
And every which place they could think
But not a trace anywhere
Just then they heard a muffled squawk
Just above their heads it came
And their they saw it
That big ol stork with all their money
Hangin out of its mouth
Perched up on the tallest tree
By this time they couldn’t remember
Who had how much money,
Nor did they care,
They wanted just wanted it back
So those gamblers schemed a daring plot
At least as daring as any gambler could dare
One would throw a decent size rock at the stork
When it fell, the other would catch it in a net
While the remaining would grab the money
Decent plan, but they forgot something
To keep their eye on the prize
You see that bird was watching them
Plan, and get ready for the attack
And the bird watched as Gambler
Tried to throw rocks high enough
But they would just bounce off the tree
Hitting the other gamblers
One even hit a bear
But they got away before the bear
Could hurt them to bad
When they got back from ducking that bear
They found that stork still perched
High up on that tree
Well one gambler finally said
“Lets just climb up after it,
What’s the worst that could happen? ”
Well they started to climb,
With the strongest one to catch them
Just in case they fell, they thought it thru huh
Anyways, after climbing for what seemed like hours
They finally got to the stork
They got on 4 sides of that and jumped
Let’s just say those gambler’s
Well they went stork huntin no more
And for all you folks lookin for a moral in this tale
I ain’t got one for you
Never really thought about one
But if you got one, good for you
I don’t wanna here it
Go tell someone that cares
