The Golden Tree Poem by Mehreen Mujeeb

The Golden Tree

She peeled off pieces of wood
From her coffin and sawed
She climbed out of her deathbed
On her grave she spread out,
Pieces of wood to solve.

With her tendons
She tied the pieces together
And with her breath
She painted on the bark.

With her teeth
She carved the tree
She collected autumn leaves.

She dipped the leaves in gold,
And glued them on the bark.
