The Goalkeeper Poem by Salvatore Ala

The Goalkeeper

Rating: 5.0

I could not save the final shot.
It flew beyond mind and body;
Imponderable, like a work of art,
An equation incarnate.

It flew into the corner of my goal
And tried to burst the web of being.
But I remembered the ball
Is the heart of humanity in motion,
And wants not to be saved
But loved and understood.

And therein came my awakening,
Seeing the heart of humanity
Bending beyond me, beyond anyone,
My heart was at my fingertips.
I was one who saved by not saving.

Finding peace in acceptance and understanding - a good write. A 10.
