The Girl With X-Ray Eyes Poem by Dean Meredith

The Girl With X-Ray Eyes

She travelled here
To one end of the earth
To find something
Looking for someone
Maybe a brother
Or a sister or two
Maybe for herself
And somehow
She stumbled on us
A disparate bunch of weirdos
With much in common
With each other
And all the other weirdos
And she looked gorgeous
And she sounded even lovelier
But the strangest part was
When she spoke
She seemed to see
Inside us
Really deep inside us
And she helped us see too
And it was blindingly
Spot on and truthful
And I liked it
And I liked her a lot
For it
For having the grace
To show us
Her beauty
And maybe also ours
She’s a lovely thing
I’m so glad she came
All this way
To see us weirdos
I’ll miss her
And hopefully
Never forget her
I might even
Pray for her
I think I will
Angels deserve
At least that
Don’t you think?
Ah yes
Such a lovely thing
That Welsh girl
With the x-ray eyes
And the x-ray mind
She made me
Fall in love with her
I can’t deny it
Just the truth
Soon she’ll be gone
I will miss her
But I’ll find
Some of her words
In my dreams
And maybe
On the internet
I’m glad she came
But I will miss her
I think we all will
Beautiful thing
