The Girl On The Hill Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

The Girl On The Hill

5 AM
Awakened by raindrops on the window sill
A loneliness that only lovers know
begins to fill
a heart
whose bitter pill
is that the one he loves
Is far away
oblivious
high up
upon a hill
In a castle
with a tassle with a frill
surrounded by a moat
that teardrops fill
as raindrops echo
off the window sill
I feel an empty hollow chill
Love is unwanted
put through the mill
but still
I cannot kill
this hurting feeling
at least, not until
thoughts of her no longer
bring their dreams and hopeful thrill
Loneliness is love
that's rendered nill
