The Girl Child Poem by Bakary S. Sonko

The Girl Child

I the girl child
Was it my doing innate a girl?
I am even better in all I do
When given a chance

Why the stigma and discrimination?
From the cradle to the mantle
Every child regardless of gender
is born to opportunity

Educated me the world shall prosper
Retired me to the four corners of the house
The world's growth shall be retarded
I deserved equally.
