The gift of compassion is to say the least rare
And those who possess it seem all too aware
Of the feelings of others to which they relate
A compassionate person to others a good mate
To a class of their own they do surely belong
Compassionate people will never do you a wrong
To help people out of trouble they go out of their way
Compassionate people one does not meet every day
The gift of compassion i would love to possess
With it i could bring to others so much happiness
I too am self centred though in that I'm not rare
As there are many like me in the big World out there
Compassionate people are kind, gentle and wise
With the feelings of others they can empathize.
