The Ghost Of Days That Never Were Poem by Tim Vallie

The Ghost Of Days That Never Were

There in shadow stood a shade
A ghost haunting my steps
In his silence, still he bade
For me to give up secrets kept
I could feel him more than see him
And I could hear him not
Yet still I knew him in the dim
Still I learned his lessons taught

He stands in silent vigil
The watchman without eyes
His silence beared like a sigil
He who knows all truths and lies
The ghost of possibility
The shadow in the shade
Who stands in restless tranquility
In that dark of night he bade

The ghost of days come and gone
The shade of days yet unwritten
His silent vigil ever long
Keeper of future truths forbidden
The ghost of days that never were
And of lives never to be
Who in his silence did confer
That death shall set us free
