The Ghost Of Casey Jones Poem by Kevin Scanlon

The Ghost Of Casey Jones

Rating: 4.5

Sometimes you still see the ghost of Casey Jones
Walking the rails where he met his brave end
Encircled by steam his eyes seem to beam
Looking for danger just around the next bend.

Running for safety is a risk too many take
Like fugitives from life, we die before we wake
But we can rise to the challenge every day
Heroes stand by their core, come what may.

Sometimes you still see the ghost of Casey Jones
Walking the rails where he met his brave end
With a soul like hot coal he drives toward his goal
Looking for danger just around the next bend.

Destiny has a schedule we can't always know
Our lives can be derailed by a sudden blow
But hope can see us through our greatest test
Heroes are what we are when we do our best.

Sometimes you still see the ghost of Casey Jones
Walking the rails where he met his brave end
His heart of steel rumbles like a wheel on the tracks
Looking for danger just around the next bend.

The world may be a train wreck we can't avoid
But we can throttle fear till it's finally destroyed
We're the engineers of our lives in all we do
Heroes carry us to a higher ground and view.

Sometimes you still see the ghost of Casey Jones
Inside the depot where he breathed his last breath
He'll remain till the last train shakes the terrain
Then ride to the promised land beyond death.
