The Garden Poem by Destry Drew Miller

The Garden

Rating: 5.0

These walls I built so long ago
So high that I can no longer see
Caged is the only way
This heart of mine can ever be free

Beyond this concrete is my own garden
Which in secret blooms
But the flowers are poisoned
And this garden is my tomb

Sometimes I think I want
These barriers to fall
But what would my garden be
Without its walls?

Maybe the light would filter the poison
And something beautiful could grow
But in the shadows I'm safe
This darkness is all I know
