The Gallows Poem by Matt Burgett

The Gallows

simple thoughts when your at your end
You finally figure out what has it's worth
Nothing at all but whats upside down
I've needed to hang since the date of my birth

All I do Is drag down smiles
Tears hit the dirt as we walk the miles
Long cold roads right through the snow
slowly and steadily we head for the gallows

For crimes of a life I know I've failed
Upside down to a cross I should be nailed
This fate I've chosen for myself is true
I've failed myself as well as you

Dust in the wind as dark clouds draw near
Ten feet up my heart is in the shallows
Holding my breath I dropp to my death
Swaying in the wind here at the gallows
