The Future Poem by Paul Reed

The Future

Uncork the day as you rise from your slumber
Not knowing what’s next, forge forward and plunder
Take today in your embrace and wonder
Why is it that my heart keeps beating?

The next moment is like the last, surprising
As rivers burst their banks and seas uprising
Always the unexpected walks next to us, despising
Man’s supposed knowledge of the future

So take the next event at it’s face value
Don’t analyse, and ponder, and re-write the past; you
Instead should wonder at the unpredictability of it all
That’s life’s great mystery for us all
