The Freed Slave Poem by Chuks Kevin Nwaokolo

The Freed Slave

My land, my existence
My legacy, my heritage
All I wanted was to be free
To not pay before I speak my mind
Today I am a free man
Today in history
I intend to smile again, perhaps cry.

I've been in shock incessantly
Ponder like for decade
How come freed
But still a slave
I don't wanna die a freed slave
If I die
I die a free man.

Liberty is my birthright
From where I flee from
I see me
My future
My glorious days
This me will come to actual
Only but in an alien land.
