The Former Rose Of Koroit Poem by Francis Duggan

The Former Rose Of Koroit

'Tis true time ages everyone for that is Nature's way
The former Rose of Koroit with brown dye cloaks her gray
But one three decades younger is Koroit's Rose today
Our prime years go so quickly as some are known to say
She is now in her mid fifties the former Rose of Koroit Town
But it has been awhile now it would seem since her hair was natural brown
An ageing grandmother but she has got her pride
In anti ageing creams and hair dyes the years she try to hide
But she is clearly not the beauty she once used to be
Despite hair dyes and cosmetics the age in her one can see
Her grandchildren in their mid teens into young adults grow
And she's no longer the head turner that she was years ago
One three decades younger than her is now Koroit's Rose
And her best days behind her that's life one must suppose.
