The Flowering Peach Tree Branch Poem by VICTORIA HEIM

The Flowering Peach Tree Branch

Long ago
Kings and Queens held court
in the Ancient City of Hue
The citadel still stands
grand palaces
and royal tombs
remain near the river
called Perfume
quiet reigns
in the country
that has known the sounds
of war
the Tet
the lunar new year
is a time for celebration
reviewing the past
we enjoy the present
and plan for the future
facing one another
with feelings of sincerity
a visit with parents
as firecrackers light
up the night sky
The fragrance of the
Flowering peach tree branch
brings a remembrance
of those who held us
in their arms
