The Flower Girl Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

The Flower Girl

Rating: 5.0

Attention focuses on a little girl with shoulder length curls
Wearing a ruffly chiffon dress… at her neck delicate pearls

She is standing very poised with a locked smile
Feeling like a princess ready to walk down the aisle

Auntie is getting married… for months it has been planned
A bow trimmed satin basket is held in her white gloved hand

She proudly casts tokens of joy… a prelude to the ceremony
Fragrant blush kissed rose petals line the path to matrimony

As she accompanies the wedding party and listens to the vows
She feels the glow of love and the commitment to tomorrows

With a sense of accomplishment she follows the groom and bride
Leaving the jam packed church with a slight skip in her stride

Soon festivities begin… a time to congratulate and celebrate
After hours of eating and dancing…she can hardly stay awake

A day she will remember… likened to beautiful fairy tale
A day of happiness fulfilled right down to the very last detail
