The Fisherman And The Koi Fish Poem by Kewayne Wadley

The Fisherman And The Koi Fish

Last night,
I found myself drifting in an everlasting dream,
Alone.. left
afloat in an vast ocean with the thought of you,
No food, not a crumb to eat,
No fresh water, except the rain,
Nothing except a fishing pole,
Merely afloat
In my journey with thoughts of you,
I found myself without answer,
Without such reason,
I found myself loving you,
Only to,
Find myself hating you,
I do not love you the way you feel,
Nor send prayers of such manner,
I love you as in the way water becomes the ocean, a mere ripple that echos across a dark blue canvus,
Purpose
As each drop constantly fills an overflowing cusp,
As most would see this without reason or how,
For eyes only go so far
Across an ocean so vast,
I dipped my hands in this ocean,
The waters are calm, lukewarm,
Merely adrift,
Searching for a lifetime that seems to pass by a moment at a time,
Along this journey I came across a koi fish,
Pretty in color, fluent in motion,
Simply swiming until he came across my hand,
We spoke,
As the definition of need became apparent by the look on both our face,
I do not miss you for the need of missing you,
I do not need you for the sake of needing you,
I miss you only because I miss you,
I Need you except because I need you,
As the heart only knows one direction,
The koi fish agreed,
A Pisces in nature, had lost its twin,
And couldn't leave until its found its mate,
I'd seen it a couple times before sailing around,
Searching,
as it seen me, but never conversed,
Until curiousity bloomed,
Each leaf connected more than one way, out of four,
Colorful, fruitful,
Each time of this dream,
Travelling this everlasting ocean,
Every peak, each depth,
Became reoccuring,
We no longer saw each other, as we'd both swim further and farther,
Everything becomes dense,
A tradition of the eyes as they can only see so far,
Blind to the light of a new day,
In my journey with thoughts of you,
I find myself without answer,
Without such reason,
I found myself loving you,
Only to,
Find myself hating you,
Hating you because I can't find you,
But love you with the sight of feeling
