The First Day Poem by Micheal Lambert

The First Day

Your staring eyes I can remember,
Your lips, so soft, so tender,
Your hands they held me far from a stranger,
Your skin against mine made me wonder.
Is this real? Is this true or is it just a mere dream and its splendour?

The slow incline of your body towards mine,
The sudden rushes of adrenaline told me it was time.
Your hands started exploring the avenues of my body,
Your lips never ceased from meddling so gladly.
As the seconds grew to minutes and the minutes to hours
Something authentic I could feel that I hope never will devour.

I sat beside you with a racing heart,
But in my mind, I'm wishing we never have to part,
I knew the time was winding down for you to say bye,
To duty you had to answer, knowing this I still wondered why.

A dreadful, mean and selfish thing known as time,
Rebelled against us, this we saw as a crime.
The moment had come, we couldn't stop it,
Unnoticeably I begged, I pleaded but unfortunately this was of no benefit.
