The Final Solution Poem by Mason Maestro

The Final Solution

Invite all our overgrown infants today
And host a social banquet soiree
In a little place of our own
Presenting the final solution waiting on the wings
For incurable tyrants and kings
They’ve appeared to themselves every day
On closed circuit TV
To make sure they're still real
It's the only connection they feel

'Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Mr. Carter and Mondale
Mr. Peres and friend
Mrs. Thatcher and Callaghan
Mr. Rothschild and party
The Archbishop of Canterbury
The ghost of Heath
The memories of Nasser
And now adding colour-
A group of anonymous South African Cricket backbenchers'

Did they expect us to treat them with any respect?
They can polish their medals and straighten their ties
And amuse themselves orchestrating wars for a while
Safe in the permanent gaze of the superior
All others fall below the structure’s interior
Of these colonists acting on a whim
Wasters of life and limb
Is everyone in?
Are you having a nice time?
Now, the final solution can be applied
