The Famine. Poem by Majid Zubedi

The Famine.

Rating: 4.7

I've the history across the years;
but I've never burst into tears.
as much as I've found this time;
one of the worst kind;
Of starvation;
invaded my whole nation.
Once Hail Selassie's hungry lions;
were fed on my brave sons.
I only yearn for, what they have;
so they don't want me to save.
somewhere they burn their wheat;
and somewhere they bury the meat.
I even can not think;
there they wear the exclusive mink;
my children are eager for a sip,
and somewhere dogs can drink;
the bowlful of pure milk;
I have to see, the naked dead bodies,
and you are improving the quality of silk.

Budgets have been passed for the military race;
worth of millions goes into the space.
you developed the highly sensitive computers;
but give some security of my future.
human-beings are the most sensitive;
my children only claim to live.
the hungry lions of Hail Selassie,
still want me to swallow;
I'm in such kind of uncertainty,
even don't know my tomorrow.
I'm an historical country, Ethiopia,
the part of the continent Africa,
looking towards America,
Australia, Europe and even Asia.
