The Extraterrestrial Poem by Kaci Tami

The Extraterrestrial

A decade ago, one cold winter’s day
I met a creature in the woods
That stood on spindly legs
And dressed in ugly rags
His head was bigger than a melon,
And he had eyes of speckled grey
And his hands were talons
And when he spoke he sounded
Just like the Queen when
She delivered her ‘New years message’

But when he blinked
An extraordinary thing took place
He grew and grew until
He was thrice bigger than me!
I screamed for help afraid
He would hurt me
But simply said “ Don’t cry,
Nor do I want to hurt you! ”
For I simply want directions
Pinpointing the planet Xeroxes,
My heavenly home planet
You should have seen his tears
When I told him, his home
Was 2000 light years away?
His disappointing sigh
But now he lives inside my bag
And comes to school with me!
