The Enemy! Poem by Shahzia Batool

The Enemy!

Rating: 4.3

Ego does have neither mind
nor does have a heart,
but in ruling human life,
it really plays its part
It dies when it needs to live
It lives when it needs to die
Or at least just fall unconscious…

Ego has the rebel rules
A higher sense of dignity
Got from its own angle
Its own realization…
When it dies, it turns
an honored heart
Into a humble beggar
begging humbly
for attention and affection…

Ego is like a silent killer
As pulse, sugar, cholesterol
Fatal in both severe shades
Getting high or getting nil…
Ego is a sensitive, though
Not a sensible agency
Running, ruling, ruining
But never relieving human life…

It is like a central jail
guilty or the harmless souls
Fall prisoners in its confines…
To keep an eye on your “self”
Is the only remedy
Self-respect is another thing
Ego is just the enemy! ! !

Beautiful poem on way, Shahzia. Ego just a three letter word, enough to kill one with thoughts..If it keeps on rising then after a certain height it will fall directly to ground and badly wounded or die also..It will turn all the relationship into sour ones. It will be too late to realize...Loved the way you presented this particular topic Ego..++++10

but in general self respect is termed as ego. a good subject with supportive explanation. ego n self respect goes parallel where ego is defined as negative n self respect as negative. this is like crucial sum of mathematics n i adore your courage for making an attempt. thnx n regards always.

Now people are severly caught on the tenterhooks of ego! It dies when it needs to live It lives when it needs to die...... so true! Fortunate is the man with lesser ego. It is 'like a silent killer'. To deal with a man of inflated ego is a pain, indeed! A powerful write Shahzia! ! Thanks for the comment and also for the poem by Sylvia Plath!

Deftly proffered in this clever conversation but wisely too humble to brag while delivering this subtle truth.

ego can get the best of people when it gets out of control. it can be the enemy of the soul.
