The Ending Story Poem by Brian Garrett

The Ending Story

Walk the path that's placed before you
There isn't much you can really do
Don't trust the fickle fascination of the sermon
Because the end has already been pre-determined

So come and hear the story told
Of a passion which now burns cold

Lust, Which turns to trust a false misconception of the mind
Fear, when your sincere it doesn't mean the other is in line
Wrath, Which chooses the path, to the humble home of the blind
Love, there is no such thing, this is what I bring before you as I sing

The ending story
A tale of old
This is the truth to be told
The ending story
A tale of time
When young hearts are buried beneath the lime

There is no drug that can calm my nerves
And only god knows what she deserves
Standing here at the end of the chapter
Where there is no happily ever after

There's no hope, no light that can set you free
The happy chapel ending will never be
Where is the white knight to save the day
I'd really hate for the story to end this way

So come and hear the story told
Of a passion which now burns cold

Lust, Which turns to trust a false misconception of the mind
Fear, when your sincere it doesn't mean the other is in line
Wrath, Which chooses the path, to the humble home of the blind
Love, there is no such thing, this is what I bring before you as I sing

The ending story
A tale of old
This is the truth to be told
The ending story
A tale of time
When young hearts are buried beneath the lime

There is no drug that can calm my nerves
And only god knows what she deserves
Standing here at the end of the chapter
Where there is no happily ever after
