The End Of A Day Poem by Paul Reed

The End Of A Day

Finally the noise subsided,
The day settled
Suddenly everything had gone by;
Our hearts cooled,
The air stilled
And the stars drained the light from the sky;

The thrill was over,
Energy spent
The night listless in it’s repose;
Bringing an uneasy truce
After all the things done
The bloom given to the rose;

We know that today
Was full and fulfilled
Took joy to an impossible high;
The laughter resounded,
Youth is forever
But gone in the blink of an eye.
