The End Poem by The Poet Darkling

The End

The faintest echo of love unspoken
The lingering ache in a heart once broken

The last fallen tear from eyes now drying
The slightest whisper of breathe I'm sighing

The "once upon a time" that's now in the past
The "now and forever" that just didn't last

The pretty love song that never got sung
The wrinkly skin that once was so young

The long, dark tresses that now are graying
The "should have been said" that's gone without saying

The ticking of time we thought wouldn't end
The final farewell from my oldest friend
