The Emperor's Dream! Poem by Vadakkumpurath Ramesan

The Emperor's Dream!

When the Emperor dream
The dreams of his countrymen droop
And their lives dries up.
Every dream of an Emperor
Blooms from the sweat
The tears and blood of slaves!
The Pharos of Egypth
The Tsar of Prussia
The Emperors of the land
Of yellow river
The Moghul's dreamed
On the corpses of the dreams
Of the slaves!
The Pharos whipped
The slaves from the black continent
To the deserts of Egypth
To raise the Pyramids
To sleep them safe
When they turn mummies!

The Emperors of China
Built the great wall
For centuries together
By sacrificing the generations
With their sweat and blood!

Shajahan dreamed
And Taj blossomed
And laid Mumtaz to rest
And he wept before
The beautiful grave
Bathing in full moon
The tear dropp of love!
Shajahan too slept
With Mumtaz beneath
The marble plaque
Studded with lifeless art.
He chopped the hand
Of the Iranian architect
Not to create anymore
Further on earth
And the tear dropp of love
Is tained with blood
Of millions toiled
To fulfill the dream
Of the Emperor!
