The Earth's Bellowing Cries Poem by Nicholas Schumacher

The Earth's Bellowing Cries

The Earth shudders
And moans with a thunderous roar
Bellowing out as if in pain
Caused by some unseen force beneath

Smoke plumes billow up into the sky
Releasing waves of sootish black ash
and nose-scorching acrid clouds of sulfur
upon the mountains awakening

An orange molten liquid gurgles forth
Cascading down the mountainside
obliterating everything left in its path
Heading straight towards the village down below

Shrill, anxious screams arise
As the villagers realize their undeniable demise
And they fall upon their knees
and pray up to the skies

But at the last moment
The fiery liquid shift its path
and flows steaming and sizzling
Harmlessly into the depths of the Ocean Blue.
