The Drug, The Star, The Perfection Poem by Emily Muniz

The Drug, The Star, The Perfection

Rating: 5.0

I traveled the path
That leads around the world
I’ve greeted each bean
And read them honestly
What they call themselves
I remember not
There faces are a blur
What they spoke is gone
All except for one

One more addict then the
Most addicting drug
Addicting girls; just like me
One more brighter
Then the brightest star
Lighting the day; for people like me
One more perfect
Then thyself
Perfecting a girls world; just like mine

I had to finish my journey
I couldn’t stop and chat
I walked but remembered
Remembered the spot
Remembered the face
Remembered the voice
Remembered the body
Remembered the everything

I finished hopping; to greet another
That compared to this drug
Compared to this star
Compared to this perfection
But as each greet came along
It’d be an insult to even consider
A comparison; whose beauty
Does not compare

I’ve gone back
And I’ve seen the spot
Its empty and fuggy
Though I can hear the voice, the laugh, the face, the body
But nobody’s there
I’m playing the winters day back in my head
Over and over again
Where I met a drug
I greeted a star
I came face to face with perfection
