The Dreams Of Stones Poem by Vadakkumpurath Ramesan

The Dreams Of Stones

Rating: 5.0

The Sculptor was moving
With his chisel and hammer
To give shape to the two stones
That left untouched for long.
The stones that rested on pride
Of a mountain peak as a crown
Was dethroned by a blast
By the quarry worker
Thus losing the stone identity!
The stones carried to the sculptor
Were found in bonhomie
As if partners on voyage
For an identical aim
With unity, love and affection.
The stones prayed secretly
That they may be turned
By the chisel of the sculptor
To a deity of all faiths!
The stones vyed with their fate
For an unthinkable dream
That take shape in the sculptor's dreams!
The sculptor started to chisel one
With the rhythm of chisel and hammer
But the stones and sculptor
Kept their dreams intact
As the sculptor was quick
The chiselled figures
Enthralled him and he smiled.
The other stone watching all
Was shocked to see
That his companion was turned
To the shape of a Demon!
The Demon sculptor glee
At the companion
Not in love but with lust
To do what a Demon can!
The sculptor turned
To the lone stone left
And started chiseling quickly.
It took the shape
Of a dragon with ugly gusters
Only to confront with Demon stone
There was a fight fierce
And at the peak of fight
The sculptor laughed
While the Demon and Dragon
Wept incessantly
For the cursed incarnations!
