The Dreams Of Our Youth Poem by Sofia Kioroglou

The Dreams Of Our Youth

Rating: 5.0

On the verge of tears

I try to put my thoughts in order.

The buckets of thoughts too messy

to put in the box of oblivion.

The cobwebs of my mind

gathering dust, befuddling.

The bales of past experiences

tumbling down memory lane.

Too many photos of you and me

walking into the sunset hand-in-hand.

Our perfumes as evanescent

as the dreams of our youth.

I love the image of the bucket of thoughts too messy. I've recently had the very un-fun experience of baling out water from a flooded room. Buckets of memories from an ending love affair fits well with that reference. They just keep coming. But the reality of the two people are evanescent...like dreams of youth. Yes, well done. Thanks Sofia.

a word graphic, almost a visual, deeply felt. nice poem with a fluid tone wistfulness writ large with a smattering of nostalgia, well expressed emotions. these lines do not well up just like that, there is vivid memory behind it liked

A nostalgic piece about your childhood. Everyone has such tear-rousing memories but you have captured your case with such tremendous poetic detail and vividness.
