The Dreamer And Non-Dreamer Poem by Mary Jesusa Villegas

The Dreamer And Non-Dreamer

For me and my twin sister, yet
so contrary with each other

Two girls searching
for life's
complex meaning
because they are going
somewhere.
Though they are not yet
sure with
what they have
Life is sure
They're gonna get there
Not any slow nor fast
But they're gonna get
there.

The Dreamer and Non-Dreamer
talked
with each other
before the final summer
The Dreamer asked the
non-dreamer
''Why is it you dream
no more? ''
The Non-Dreamer said to the
Dreamer
''Because I'm just to
tired
to do so.
And isn't it so exhausting to
pretend
that you're someone
when you are really not?
And time
flies away
when all you want to do
is stop
And when you grow up
it's like a slap
in your face
And when you wake up
you've grown some
wrinkles
through the day.
The Dreamer shuddered
and thought for awhile
what the Non-Dreamer has said.
The Dreamer told the
Non-Dreamer
'' But it's no problem at all..
to pretend that you are someone
because you really are
someone.
and isn't nice to have wrinkles in your face
as you make your dreams come true? ''
Yet the Dreamer has
her own world
And the secret
she knew
that will make everything okay
is the secret in her own world
and there, it's okay.
That is why
she has 'no problem at all.'

The Dreamer thought
though they're not sure with
what they have
or they're not sure of
what they are
Life is sure
that they can do
so far
from what they have
or what they are
right now
And
they're gonna get there
not any slow nor fast
But they're gonna get
there.
Until the Dreamer's world
rusts.
